Botox near Boston, MA

We are committed to offering the highest standard of eye care, as well as cosmetic enhancements to patients of our Waltham and Wakefield offices. If you are concerned about problems like worry lines, crow's feet, and frown lines, you can trust our experienced providers to take great care to administer Botox ® precisely to achieve beautiful, natural-looking results. In addition to surgical eyelid rejuvenation via blepharoplasty, we regularly smooth away troublesome dynamic wrinkles using Botox®. This injectable has been around for many years and is very well-known for its efficacy and safety. Botox® works by relaxing tightened muscle tissue that results from consistent use. After receiving this injectable, the targeted muscles relax but this does not prevent you from making facial expressions. Botox® helps you look younger, but you still look like You!

If you are interested in receiving FDA-approved Botox® from one of our experienced providers, contact us today to schedule your appointment. There's no time like the present to feel your best!

Are Botox® Results Permanent?

Your Botox® results are expected to last from three to six months. Generally, patients tend to return for touch-ups every three to four months. Doing so can prevent the treated lines from recurring. Over time, you might find that you can elongate the time between your touch-ups as the muscles take longer to "tone up" via your normal facial movements.

Is Botox® Painful At All?

We cannot call Botox® injections pain-free, but we also wouldn't describe them as painful. Your provider uses a tiny needle to administer Botox® injections, minimizing tissue trauma and sensation. Each injection is inserted into a superficial muscle. The only sensation you will feel is in the skin, and this is limited to a momentary pinch. After your treatment, you might feel slightly sore or tender, but this should pass quickly.

Are There Any Risks Involved With Botox®?

Botox® has been around for about twenty years now. Few serious complications have been reported in all that time of worldwide use. The drug is considered extremely safe but it does carry some risk warnings. The most common side effects of Botox® injections include localized, temporary redness, swelling, and bruising. There is also a risk of infection because injections break through the skin. Botox® should only be administered by a thoroughly trained, licensed professional with extensive knowledge of facial anatomy. Accidental injection into the wrong muscle or the migration of the product after injections are done could lead to drooping of the eyebrow. There is also a risk of allergic reaction to the active ingredient in Botox®, the botulinum toxin, which could result in difficulty swallowing or difficulty breathing. These complications can be frightening but they are treatable with prompt medical attention.

Who Is a Candidate for Botox®?

Ideal candidates for Botox® are those who are at least 18 years of age, in good physical health, not pregnant or nursing, who don't have a history of neuromuscular diseases like multiple sclerosis or muscular dystrophies, and are interested in achieving a younger, smoother complexion. Botox® restricts the muscles in the face from contracting to prevent the formation of wrinkles and fine lines. While it’s recommended that all patients who get Botox® are at least 18 years of age, the earlier you start getting Botox® treatments, the more preventable the formation of wrinkles can become!

Botox® is not recommended for those who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. If you also have allergies or any sensitivities to the ingredients within Botox®, this treatment may not be suitable for you.

How Often Will I Need Botox®?

Because Botox® is a natural-looking injectable, after three to four months, it will be absorbed by the body. To maintain their desired results, most patients schedule follow-up treatments every six months to avoid any appearance of wrinkles on their faces.

How Can I Make My Botox® Results Last Longer?

While Botox® is designed to last between three to four months, for some patients, their Botox® may disappear even sooner. To ensure that your Botox® results are lasting as long as possible, take care of the skin on your treated areas by doing the following:

  • Avoid sun exposure
  • Avoid high-intensity workouts
  • Use collagen supplements to help the skin look as rejuvenated as possible
  • Keep your skin moisturized
  • Eat a balanced diet
  • Avoid smoking
  • Avoid rubbing your injection site
  • Avoid drinking alcohol immediately after your Botox® injection treatment
